Author Dorothy M. Wyrick is a native of Battle Creek, Michigan where she was born on August 19, 1956. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1974, and after the birth of her daughter, she began working at the Battle Creek Federal Center (1980-2007). She retired from the Federal Center due to her illness from the liver disease diagnosis in 2000. Even though doctors were giving her a grim prognosis, she held on to her faith that God "had her back." She has been a member of Emmanuel Covenant Church International for twenty-eight years under the leadership of Founder Bishop Hugh D. Smith, Jr., currently led by Senior Pastor Frederick and Co-pastor Shannon Sweet. There's Something Behind That Smile, shares of Dorothy's relationships, spiritual foundation, and family as she awaited the miracle of a liver transplant and how God got her through it all.
