Thessaly's journey is my own.
When I wrote Thessaly: Witch of the Embered Path I was weaving together the threads of my life-my struggles, my survival, and my transformation after living with a narcissist. Thessaly's repeated burnings, her constant reinvention, and her longing for connection mirror the cycles I endured: being idealized, devalued, and discarded, only to rise again, changed but never truly free.
The village in the story is the world I lived in.
It was a place where love was conditional, where blame was constant, and where my identity was shaped by someone else's needs and wounds. Like Thessaly, I was forced to become what others demanded-healer, scapegoat, miracle, monster. Each time I tried to reclaim myself, the cycle began again.
The Echo is the legacy of abuse.
As Thessaly's power fractures and the Echo emerges, I see the lasting effects of narcissistic harm. The Echo is every wound, every fear, every version of myself I tried to bury to survive. It is the part of me that learned to doubt, to hide, to silence my own truth. Facing the Echo is the hardest part of healing-confronting the pain, the patterns, and the memories that linger long after the relationship ends.
But the story is also about hope.
Thessaly's final act is not destruction, but choice. She faces the Echo, acknowledges her pain, and chooses who she wants to become. This is the heart of my journey: learning that I am more than what was done to me, more than the echoes of abuse. I am the author of my own story.
To anyone who has survived narcissistic abuse:
This book is for you. Thessaly's magic is your resilience. Her journey is your path to healing. The Echo may haunt you, but it does not define you. You have the power to choose, to remember, and to become.
Thessaly: Witch of the Embered Path is a haunting, lyrical novel about survival, transformation, and reclaiming your truth after living through narcissistic abuse.
Burned and reborn again and again, Thessaly endures the cycles of blame, worship, and exile from a village that both fears and needs her. Each chapter is a new trial-a new role forced upon her, a new piece of herself sacrificed to survive.
But beneath the magic and myth, Thessaly's story is a reflection of real pain: the struggle to hold onto your identity when someone tries to rewrite your reality, the endurance it takes to rise after every betrayal, and the hope that healing is possible.
As Thessaly's power fractures, the Echo emerges-a creature born from her discarded memories and wounds, threatening to consume her. Facing the Echo means confronting the legacy of abuse, the patterns that linger, and the versions of herself she tried to bury.
In the end, Thessaly's greatest act is not survival, but choice: to reclaim her story, to choose who she becomes, and to offer hope to anyone who has ever felt lost in the aftermath of narcissistic harm.
For every reader who knows the pain of being silenced, blamed, or broken-this book is for you. Thessaly's journey is your journey. The Echo may haunt you, but it does not define you. You have the power to choose, to heal, and to become.
