Tony Connor left school at fourteen and worked as a textile designer in Manchester for many years. Since 1971 Tony Connor has lived partly in Middletown, Connecticut where he was a professor of English at Wesleyan University. His plays have been performed on both sides of the Atlantic. He now divides his time between Middletown and London.

xBorn in Manchester, England in 1930 Tony Connor left school at fourteen to help support his mother and sister. He was a tank driver and textile designer before establishing himself, first as a poet, then as a TV writer and librettist. He moved to the States in 1971 to take up the post of Professor of English at Wesleyan University.
