Thoth Hermes, Scribe of Eternity (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798233423758)

To speak of Thoth is to enter the mind of Ancient Egypt. Scribe of eternity, master of words, guardian of cosmic balance-no other god so deeply embodied the Egyptian vision of order and truth. Worshiped as Djehuty, the ibis-headed deity of writing and wisdom, Thoth was at once cosmic principle and personal guide: mediator between Horus and Set, companion of the dead in judgment, and architect of rituals that bound heaven and earth together. His symbols-the ibis, the baboon, the scales, the lunar disc-were not mere icons but living hieroglyphs of a universe sustained by word, memory, and book is a journey through three millennia of Egyptian theology, tracing Thoth's presence in myth, ritual, and philosophy. From the Pyramid Texts to the magical papyri, from the temples of Hermopolis Magna to the halls of the dead, Thoth appears as creator, healer, judge, and scribe. The exploration continues beyond Egypt, into Greece and Rome, where he became Hermes Trismegistus, "thrice great," inspiring Hermeticism, Neoplatonism, Gnosticism, and the mystical sciences of alchemy and astrology. Through these transformations, his essence endured: the conviction that the world is intelligible because it is written, ordered, and than a study of a single god, this book opens a window onto the Egyptian imagination itself-a worldview where truth could be weighed, justice inscribed, and immortality secured through memory. Rich in myth, history, and symbolism, it restores Thoth to his place as the silent architect of civilization and the eternal scribe of divine mysteries.
