Thoughts From Beyond the Mind: A Theory of External Cognition (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798242243934)

Is your brain a factory that produces your mind, or is it an antenna that receives it?

Close your eyes and wait for your next thought. Did you manufacture it like a factory worker building a widget? Or did it simply arrive, popping into your awareness like a signal caught by a radio?

For a century, the scientific consensus has been that the brain is a Generator-a biological machine that creates consciousness through complex neurochemistry. But this model is breaking down. It cannot explain why people with severe brain damage suddenly regain clarity before death (Terminal Lucidity). It cannot explain why geniuses like Tesla and Ramanujan claimed their ideas were "downloaded" in an instant. It cannot explain why the human mind seems to expand when the brain's activity is suppressed.

In Thoughts From Beyond the Mind, Tim North proposes a radical paradigm shift: The Receiver Thesis.

Drawing on the latest findings in quantum biology, the philosophy of William James and Henri Bergson, and the anomalies of modern neuroscience, this book argues that the brain is not a creator of consciousness, but a Reducing Valve. Its function is to filter the infinite "Mind at Large" into a localized stream of experience necessary for survival.

This book explores:

• The Correlation Fallacy: Why mistaking the radio for the broadcast has led neuroscience down a dead end.

• The Paradox of the Compressed Brain: How a man with 75% of his brain missing lived a normal, conscious life.

• The Neuroscience of "The Download" Why the most profound insights arrive when the brain's executive centers shut down.

• Terminal Lucidity & NDEs: Evidence that the signal persists even when the receiver is destroyed.

• The Physics of the Noosphere: How memory and inspiration may be accessed from a non-local field rather than stored in neurons.

If the brain is a receiver, then the death of the body is not the end of the self. It is merely the breaking of the lamp, while the light-and the signal-remains undimmed.

Prepare to retune your understanding of reality. The broadcast is waiting.
