Three Pulses: A Missing Sister, a Child's Memory, and the Evidence Left Behind (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798191590301)

Seven months after her sister disappears, a message arrives at 12:01 a.m.-and turns absence into evidence.

Claire Redding has spent months caring for her twelve-year-old niece, Sylvie, while Mara Voss's disappearance remains unresolved. Then, on Sylvie's birthday, an email sent from Mara's account tells Claire to find a green box before Evan does.

It is not proof that Mara is alive. It is proof that someone expected Claire to know what to preserve.

Claire's background in insurance claims has trained her to separate observation from inference, but family grief does not stay inside neat categories. The green box points toward records Mara deliberately left behind. Sylvie carries only fragments of memory-a red light, wet concrete, three measured pulses-and every adult around her has a reason to interpret those fragments differently.

Claire must protect a child without turning her into a witness she was never meant to become.

As the search moves through archived documents, property records, digital traces, supervised family visits, work systems, and an aging coastal pump station, the mystery becomes a question of provenance: who created each record, who can verify it, and what happens when true facts are arranged to tell the wrong story.

Claire's determination draws her closer to what happened to Mara, but it also tempts her across professional and procedural boundaries that carry consequences of their own. Evidence obtained the wrong way can damage the truth it was meant to support. A memory pushed too hard can become something else. And certainty can be just as dangerous as denial when the facts are still incomplete.

At the center of the investigation is not one miraculous clue but a chain of separate records, memories, and decisions that must be tested against one another. Mara's husband, Evan, remains controlled and persuasive as questions gather around the weeks before her disappearance. Claire cannot afford to answer uncertainty with accusation. She must learn that recognizing danger is not the same as being right about every step taken to prove it.

Three Pulses is a domestic suspense and psychological thriller about a missing woman, family secrets, child memory, coercion, evidence, and the cost of deciding what counts as truth. Beneath the investigation is an emotionally grounded story of sisters, caregiving, grief, responsibility, and the difficult line between protecting someone and controlling their story.

Written with restrained tension and procedural detail, the novel follows Claire as she learns to preserve what can be proven, admit what cannot, and choose the living person in front of her over the perfect piece of evidence.

Enter a mystery where every record has a source, every memory has limits, and three small pulses may connect a child's recollection to the truth her mother tried to leave behind.
