Through the Stormy Skies: USMT Book 2 (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798244172096)

What if the supervillainess had reformed, only for someone worse to take her place? What if a superhero had to play villain to protect her love, who would stop at nothing to find her? What if everything was not what it seemed?

Contrary to popular belief, Kiara Pierson is not dead. Instead, she has been lying low while working with Delilah to find a way to bring Alexander Coulson's operation down, all without turning into an official villainess herself. The problem? Thomas Albrecht, her boyfriend, has seen her, and avoiding him is getting harder every day. It's imperative to keep her life a secret to avoid becoming a target of Alexander, but can she manage to stay away long enough to be successful?

Hero life is not going the way Tessa Everson expected. Not only is her boyfriend, Benjamin, more distant than ever, but she keeps getting the nagging sense that she's missing something. But what? Though she tries to keep up, she feels like the weak link on the team, and the Midnight Angel has a personal vendetta against her. Benjamin Coulson, meanwhile, is trying to juggle heroics and heart. After the team gains a new, mysterious sponsor, it only gets more difficult to decide where he stands as an ever-widening rift opens between his father and his girlfriend. To top it all off, Oliver, the team's seer, has become increasingly ominous, despite allegedly not having the Alkaixe item that should allow him to view the future.

The star-crossed love story doubles in the sequel to Across the Midnight Stars, following the forbidden love of Kiara and Thomas while continuing Tessa and Benjamin's journey. Can the lovers find their way back together? Or will they simply fall apart? When plans go awry, sometimes even heroes have to operate in shades of gray.
