Gopal Lahiri was born and grew up in Calcutta. He currently lives in Mumbai, India. Lahiri is a bilingual poet, writer, editor, critic and translator, and he has been widely published both in the Bengali and English languages. His works have been extensively anthologized both in India and abroad. He is the author of two full-length poetry books: Silent Steps and Living Inside. Lahiri has jointly edited an anthology of contemporary Indian English poems under the title Scaling Heights.
