Jane Carlile Baker was born in 1949 in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Oregon, Colorado and California. Her biographies about people whose stories should be told have taken most of her writing time. During a visit to Tombstone, Arizona, she found Nellie Cashman and realized that Nellie's life is a beacon for all women. Toughnut Angel recently won an honorable mention in the annual Frazier Award contest. Jane writes for newspapers and magazines and speaks on writing, marriage, parenting, women's issues, child abuse, Nellie Cashman and biblical topics at conferences, school assemblies, and on radio and television. Her membership in American Christian Fiction Writers, the Irish American Cultural Institute and the National Writing Project refresh her writing spirit.
