Description
xIn the context of trauma, rehabilitation plays a critical yet often underestimated role. While life-saving measures have advanced significantly, the growing number of trauma survivors face profound health burdens and life-altering injuries.
This concise guide highlights the importance of physical, mental and psychosocial recovery, emphasising the need for engagement with patients to achieve the best outcomes. The UK Defence Medical Services and their partners have demonstrated the positive effects of rehabilitation at the level not only of the individual patient, but at a national level. With such care, patients gain their best possible function, contribute to society to a greater extent and reduce the ever-increasing burdens on the UK National Health Service. The military experience reflected in this book describes a comprehensive rehabilitation framework that is applicable to all trauma patients in need of long-term rehabilitation.
Trauma services worldwide are increasingly preventing loss of life, and the demand for effective rehabilitation has never been greater.
