Parts 1, 2, and 3A of volume VII, i.e., the Crustacea, were published in French in, respectively, 1994, 1996, and 1999. Brill recognized the importance of these books and arranged for a translation to be made. F.R. Schram, an authority on the systematics and phylogeny a wide range of crustacean taxa, currently has an appointment as a Research Associate at the Burke Museum of Natural History of the university of Washington, Seattle, Washington.
M. Charmantier-Daures is an associate professor at the university of Montpellier and well known for her work on crustacean ecophysiology and genetics. She also is an editor of Crustaceana - International Journal of Crustacean Research.
