Trials in Flight (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9798997595302)

Every goose takes a turn at the point. Galen has several good reasons not to. His left wing flaps slower on Tuesdays. The air feels lumpy. Besides, someone has to guard the middle.

When the young Canada goose leaves Lake Simcoe on his first migration, he expects long days in the sky and perhaps a few uncomfortable turns near the front of the V. He is less prepared for violent weather, hungry predators, hunters, and the losses that can change the shape of a flock.

The journey carries Galen and his companions through unfamiliar skies toward Plum Island. Through winter, danger, friendship, and the slow return of spring, he begins to understand his own place within the changing shape of the flock.

Trials In Flight is a literary wildlife adventure about migration, loss, friendship, and the quiet work of holding together. Written for middle-grade readers with all-ages appeal.
