Heidi Peaster was born into a sprawling, old Southern family and raised on sprawling, family stories. She began composing stories of her own before she was old enough to write, dictating them to her mother to write down. While she and Roger, her husband of 41 years raised their three biological daughters, fostered special needs kids, and adopted six, the McKenna Chronicles came into being as she wrote them during naptime. When in 2006, she and Roger moved the family to an 18 acre homestead on family land in the North Georgia mountains, Peaster began to freelance write. She has been published in several magazines, on line, and in Christian seminar materials. In 2012, she published the first of the McKenna books and the immediate grassroots popularity prompted the release of four volumes the first year. The fan-base has continued to grow. "It's only right that the McKennas are getting some attention," Peaster states. "After all, they helped me raise all these kids!"
