Encouraged by friends and family that I had a story worth telling, I became a self-proclaimed autoimmune advocate on social media whose ramblings captured the attention of fellow autoimmune, chronic illness and chronic pain sufferers along the way. I shared my life on social media, the good, the bad and the ugly as a way to make others like me to feel not quite so alone. I struck a chord with more folks than I ever anticipated as the struggles that I shared were shared by the sick, by the caregivers and even by those who were not themselves ill, because struggle is a universal language, no matter the root cause. Because of this, I garnered more love and support than I could have ever imagined.
