Darryl R. Breland is a life-long Mississippian who grew up in the small Gulf Coast town of Pascagoula, but has lived in Madison, Mississippi since 1985. Over the past thirty years, he helped build Madison as a professional home builder and real estate developer. His companies built nearly two hundred high quality homes and four upscale residential neighborhoods in Madison County. Throughout his life, he has maintained close ties to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His first job after graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi was with the Gulf Regional Planning Commission in Gulfport. He maintained a home in Gulfport and Ridgeland for three years in the mid-1980s. In recent years, he has lived in Gulfport while maintaining his residence in Madison. His hobbies include golf and writing.
