EARLY YEARS Jessica Holter is a mother, author, an activist for AIDS awareness and a gifted orator. She was raised in foster care in East Oakland, CA and attended attended public schools. She began public speaking at age 8 taking 2nd place in a Martin Luther King, Jr. oratory competition at Highland Elementary School, and found her calling. At Elmhurst, Junior High School Artis " LoveLady" Hopkins fine-tuned her gift of gab with Toastmaster's training. She attended True Vine Missionary Baptist church and became a youth evangelist, door knocking in the Acorn projects and singing at the Open Door Mission. The sudden death of her biological mother at age 10 lead her to lean heavily on the old rugged cross and by the age of 12 she had received a call to preach. Her gospel voice was groomed by the reverend Newton Carey, Jr. But her subsequent molestation and rape caused her plans for the pulpit to derail.
