She was probably the only kid in high school to actually have a collection of Victorian fonts and page decorations - a special treat from when her commercial artist dad would let her tag along on a visit to the art supply store. In England, Allen made the thrilling discovery that one could acquire magazines that were much, much older than that vintage box of Lifes - and the rest, as they say, is history. Literally. Allen now curates a collection of thousands of articles from Victorian periodicals on her VictorianVoices.net website, and produces the monthly Victoriana magazine "Victorian Times." She is a professional writer, with several published books (yep, right here on Amazon). She has lived in England and Germany, and says even her cat has frequent flyer miles (or should).
