The current publishers research suggests that the translator Olive Bray, a distinguished member of the Viking Society for Northern Research in London, came from a well-to-do English family and died at the age of 31 in 1909, the year after her monumental work appeared. Wolf Wickham, recognizing the value of Bray's translation, revised and published it in this new, user friendly form.
