The Author: W.W. Meissner, S.J., M.D. is by vocation a Jesuit priest and by profession a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He is a graduate of the Harvard Medical School and was formerly Clinical Professor of Psychiatry there. He is currently Training and Supervising Analyst in the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute and University Professor of Psychoanalysis at Boston College. He was a recipient of the Oskar Pfister Award of the American Psychiatric Association in 1989. He is author of Psychoanalysis and Religious Experience, Life and Faith, and Ignatius of Loyola: The Psychology of a Saint, and has published widely in professional journals.
