Dr. Robin Buckley is a mother of four children. The book, "Voices from the Village", was a project she began for her daughters, thinking that hearing advice from family and friends might, at times, be more effective than hearing it from parents. The project then broadened to strangers through an online survey, and spanned the globe, taking on an international perspective. As this happened, people began sharing their thoughts that the advice in the book, intended for teenage girls, really was advice for all adolescents, regardless of gender. Once the book was published, it resonated with adult women who felt the advice offered insights they needed to hear and remind themselves of. Robin earned her PhD in clinical and school psychology from Hofstra University in 2001 and has worked with adolescents for the majority of her career. Whether in her work as a school psychologist, in clinical in-patient and out-patient settings, or in her private practice, Dr. Buckley's cognitive-behavioral background focuses on changing and replacing adolescents' self-sabotaging thoughts with ideas and beliefs which help the adolescents grow strong and confident, socially, cognitively and emotionally.
