Waiting For The 400: A Northwoods Noir (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781480285347)

It was the Spring of '55 when she was found in a Chicago train station. Just a dime-a-dance and a quarter-for-more chippie. Suicide. A train ticket fluttering out of her dead fingers: Watersmeet, Michigan. The end of the line. 400 miles north, Watersmeet station master Jess Burton broods in this tiny northwoods burg, watching Chi-Town high rollers and glamour gals hop off the train to head for their lakeside mansions and highbrow resorts. Till that night Nina appeared on the depot platform. Nina...with her fire red hair, her violet eyes, dressed to kill. Nina...big city beautiful, but clearly marked "property of". The kind of woman that could turn a man's head, turn him inside out and upside down till right and wrong just aren't that simple anymore. Till someone has to die. Maybe lots of folks will have to die while Jess waits for the 400 and the beautiful red head who holds his ticket out of town. Kyle Marffin, an IHG Award nominee for Best First Novel, peels back the idyllic veneer on a backwoods whistlestop, where lust simmers and danger lurks behind the picture postcard scenery in a steamy, thrill-packed homage to the classic noir.
