Waking in the Light: A Lenten Journey, Devotional Poems (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9798385225200)

Waking in the Light exposes the relationship between spiritual and poetic practice. These devotional poems speak to and about God, interposing to bring love to light where the reader may claim God as the object of affection but the experience of love is catalyzed by the poem. Depicting the deep affection, tenderness, and devotion she has for God, Ariana D. Den Bleyker explores Scripture through the liturgical calendar during Lent as a spiritual practice to bring the reader closer to God. These beautiful contemporary poems describe the wonders of nature and the value the poet places on the sights she observes in God's world, translating them into images we can all relate to. She turns her words to God, connecting people to him through image, symbolism, and metaphor, some of the longest-lasting unifying elements in both the Bible and poetry, revealing not only her inner attachment to God but the reader's own dependence on His word. Indeed, Waking in the Light suggests faith is tangible and beautiful, as Den Bleyker writes through Scripture interpretation, leaving readers with powerful images that linger.
