Wandering Free in a Sacred Land (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781835638897)

This vivid travel journal from bygone days of unhampered freedom in India represents the author's current heartfelt response to our own critical times. The book in its revised form recalls the solitary pilgrimage the then young Englishman made in the autumn of 1970 - over half a century ago. This was during a relatively unspoilt era before India's profound spiritual heritage began to be eroded by the rising tide of rampant materialism, which has swept away so much that was precious and irreplaceable. At the heart of the thoughtful illustrated text lies the conviction that authentic truth is to be found deep within our own conscious awareness - but precisely where the majority of mankind do not care to look. Yet we only need to learn the art of letting go and resting in our essential nature, which is 'utterly clear and which embraces all things. This is the hidden place to which author Philip Pegler leads his readers in an evocative and sure-footed way.' So declares Nature poet Colin Oliver, who has contributed the optimistic Foreword and knows at first hand some of the sacred locations so carefully described here.
