Was that a Nuckelavee? (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798181298453)

A nine-foot-tall ancient demon, a glowing ghost dog, and a hair-raising reminder of why you should always just take the bus.

For twelve-year-old Aiden, the choice is obvious. He's the kind of kid who prefers leaping mid-air into massive mud puddles over walking around them. So, when the school bus line is miles long in the freezing Scottish rain, Aiden convinces his fiercely cautious, neatly folded wet blanket of a best friend, Iain, to take a shortcut.

The plan? A quick ten-minute dash through the thick, dark canopy of the Blackwood Woods.

But the Blackwood Woods have a weird way of changing once you step inside. As a thick, soupy Scottish mist rolls in, the boys find themselves hopelessly lost in a part of the forest they are strictly, historically forbidden from going near: the old graveyard boundary.

Then the smell hits them-a stomach-churning stench of rotting seaweed and pure doom. And it's followed by a deep, wet, rattling breath.

Emerging from the fog is a nightmare straight out of ancient local folklore: the Nuckelavee. A nine-foot-tall, hunched demon with a skeletal goat snout, glowing yellow eyes, and acid-spitting jaws.

To survive the night, Aiden and Iain must navigate a changing, malicious forest, dodge a toxic bioweapon, and place their trust in a mysterious, glowing, silver-blue phantom hound that seems to break the very laws of physics.

Perfect for fans of Percy Jackson and traditional folklore, The Aiden Adventures delivers a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud spooky mystery packed with ancient Scottish legends, unbreakable friendships, and a hair-raising reminder of why you should always, always take the bus.
