Charles L. Ross was the art director of "Architectural Digest" from 1978 to 1985. In 1987 he was the founding art director of "Veranda," which grew in status to compete with "Architectural Digest." Besides designing the magazine, he also edited the text and had his own column until he retired in 2004. His writing has been published in "GQ," "Christopher Street" and "The Advocate," as well as a short story in a gay anthology.
