What They Forgot (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798234250179)

History remembered the witch. It forgot the woman.

Tulane history student Maddie Landry has always found it easier to disappear into the background than fight to be seen. But when a Louisiana folklore assignment sends her and four classmates on a swamp tour through the bayou, the trip ends with a midnight dare along haunted Crown Point Road.

Maddie keeps her eyes closed. The others don't.

They thought the nightmare ended when they drove away. It was only beginning.

Small muddy footprints appear where no one should have walked. Whispers creep into their dreams. Visions follow them into daylight. Then one of the five students disappears without a trace.

Desperate for answers, Maddie begins unraveling the legend of the Witch of Bayou Coquille-and a truth buried beneath nearly two centuries of fear, folklore, and lies. But the deeper she's pulled into memories that aren't her own, the harder it becomes to separate Celeste's past from her own reality.

To save herself-and the friends slipping further from her reach-Maddie must find the courage to give a voice to the woman history silenced before the past claims someone else.

Because legends don't just hide monsters. Sometimes they hide the truth.
