When Goats Were My Classmates: A Journey From the Dust of Tandulja to the Discoveries of the World (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798905842856)

How does a boy who began his education herding livestock under a scorching sun end up to the World?

In this raw and deeply moving debut memoir, Dr. Nitin Sampatrao Kamble traces an improbable journey across dust and continents-from the impoverished village of Tandulja to Tokyo, London, Paris, and New York to the world a large. Born to parents with no formal education, author grew up in a one-room metal-sheet house where survival meant back-breaking labor and a single skipped meal could break a family's heart. He knew what it was like to study by the dim light of a kerosene lamp, to walk barefoot through fields of thorns, and to watch his father carry 50-kilogram fertilizer bags for scraps. Yet, beneath the dust of systemic poverty burned a sacred rage and a quiet promise: to lift his family not by his arms, but with his mind. Armed with nothing but unmatched resilience, and the fierce, silent love of his family, author fought educational inequity at every turn. He endured missed opportunities, devastating health crises, and the mocking laughter of doubters to ultimately earn a PhD in Molecular Microbiology in the United Kingdom. When Goats Were My Classmates is not a conventional rags-to-riches story; it is a profound testament to the transformative power of education and the unyielding grace of human persistence. Captivating and beautifully honest, it whispers a universal message of hope to anyone who has ever been underestimated: your life matters, and you can rise.
