Dr. Murray A. Fortner is chairman of a Sociology/Psychology/Mental Health Department, writer, poet, musician, and consultant. He has lectured nationally on timely and culturally significant topics such as sports, the Black athlete and the pervasive power of the Hip Hop Movement. Dr. Fortner is a graduate of Grambling State University and a former professor there. He is also a graduate of Northern Arizona University and was the first African American admitted to the University of Kentucky's prestigious School of Communication doctoral program, where he earned a PhD. In addition to teaching and consulting, Dr. Fortner is the founder of the F.O.C.U.S. Movement, a multidisciplinary endeavor designed to cultivate cultural pride, achievement and action.
