The church is an earthly expression of God's love. Unfortunately, there is too often discord within the church, resulting in the untimely dismissal of pastors. Ours is a God of peace and harmony; we must resolve our conflicts so the church can fulfill its God given responsibilities: to honor God, mature the believers, and bring salvation to the lost.
Who Is in Control of the Church is an extraordinary work of ministerial scholarship that offers specific guidance for how pastors can unite the church to fulfill their mutual ministries. Here are just a few of the topics covered in this book:
Dr. John Adams and Dr. Gayle Alexander have more than one hundred years of combined experience in the church, and during that time, they are aware of far too much conflict. But more importantly, they have also seen solutions to avoid those conflicts. Those solutions are contingent on pastors and church people fulfilling their own responsibilities in the love and spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Dr. John Adams has served as a pastor for over twenty-five years and as an interim pastor to thirty congregations. He earned his master's and his doctorate from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as vice president of Union University from 1982 to 1999 and taught courses in practical Christian ministries. Adams and his wife, Robbie, have two children, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Dr. Gayle Alexander served as a pastor in churches in Tennessee and Mississippi for over fifty years. He holds a bachelor's degree from Union University and a master's and doctorate in ministry from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as an adjunct professor in Old Testament studies and has been a trustee of various denominational institutions. Now retired, he still serves local churches as an interim pastor. He and his wife, Keliea, have two children and four grandchildren. They live in Tupelo, Mississippi.
