A missing corpse. A cantankerous cat. Good-looking bad guys.
Tourist Bryn Baczek discovers a body at the bottom of a ravine in Scotland. She goes for help, but when she returns with a rescue team, the body of biotech scientist Jared Blaine is gone.
Bryn's vacation ends, but her troubles are just beginning. Blaine had developed new ways to introduce human cells into animals to grow organs for transplants. Greedy biotech companies hope to profit from this controversial chimera research, while radical activist groups vehemently oppose it.
Rumors that Bryn made off with the scientist's laptop make her a target. Although not as bad as a horse head in her bed, the unnatural death of her goldfish is a threat she can't ignore. She goes into hiding on her 40-foot sailboat home with her cantankerous cat Macavity. Keeping a low profile becomes complicated when Macavity slips out to explore his new surroundings.
Can Bryn prevent the scientist's research from ending up in the hands of a group trafficking in illegal organ sales? Or will she become the next victim?
In Greek mythology the chimera was a bad omen. In Why Me? Chimeras, Conundrums and Dead Goldfish it's a motive for murder.
