Some have looked to the past, saying extraterrestrials created the great, lost civilizations. Our ancestors came from the stars long ago; in our current age, disenchantment with organized religion and distrust towards science and technology, are viewed by some as empty shells. Old time religion may not be the answer, but neither is materialism. Despite scientific advancements, something is missing.
