Why Your Lessons Stink!: Classroom Management, Engagement, and Teaching Strategies That Work (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798274920599)

Your lessons don't stink because you're a bad teacher. They stink because teaching is chaos... and you're the one holding the lesson plan.

If you've ever spent hours planning a "perfect" lesson only to watch it implode by Slide 3, this book is for you.

Why Your Lessons Stink is a laugh-out-loud, painfully honest guide to real-world teaching. Forget the unrealistic Pinterest classrooms and endless PD buzzwords, this book gives you practical strategies that actually work with real students in real classrooms.

Inside, you'll learn how to:
- Plan for humans, not robots
- Use engagement strategies that teach content, not just keep kids busy
- Make group work actually work (shocking!)
- Write objectives students can understand... and achieve
- Use assessments to guide learning (not just grading)
- Save time without sacrificing learning
- Bring FUN back into your classroom, for you and your students

This book blends teacher humor with research-backed instructional practices to help you overcome common teaching disasters like:
- Death by PowerPoint
- The Plan That Ate Your Prep Period
- The Great Engagement Illusion
- "Because Pinterest Said So" lessons

Perfect for:
- New teachers learning the ropes
- Veteran teachers stuck in a rut
- Instructional coaches and PD leaders
- Anyone who needs a fresh perspective - and a good laugh

Teaching is messy. Learning is messy. And sometimes... your lessons stink.

Good news: that means you're doing it right.

Get ready to laugh, learn, and transform your teaching, one gloriously imperfect lesson at a time.
