Wren (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781511552516)

RR Carroll lives and writes in the small southwest Missouri town of Neosho. Born and raised in Texas, Ron still retains a slight twang in his speech which is characteristic of native Texans: some traits are not erasable. Wren is the author's third novel and the second in the Custer County Trilogy. The initial story in the series is entitled The Big Lost. The story takes as its theme the controversial re-introduction of the grey wolf into the wilds of Idaho. The third, now in progress, is entitled, Cephas. All three tales have as their principle character the sheriffs of Custer County: the first in Idaho, the second in Oklahoma, and the final story playing out in Custer County, South Dakota. RR Carroll's first novel, Almost Guatemala, is set in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas and portrays a fictional telling of the author's experience while working in Mexico on rainforest preservation in the Selva Lacandona. It was this time, during the late 1980's and early 1990's, that inspired him to write. The author holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Nevada, Reno.
