Sarah and Kevan are teenagers, so madly in love they believe that nothing can come between them. It's high school prom night when Sarah learns that Kevan is leaving for Ireland at his father request and doesn't know when he will be able to return. Sarah waits to hear from him, convinced he will be in touch, and during that time she discovers she's expecting their baby. She is frantic to find him, but her pleas are met with angry silence by his family.
Swift action by her mother and her aunt sees her moving away from home while she waits anxiously for the arrival of her unborn child. Sarah is so upset to find herself having to work in a restaurant with no hope of hearing from Kevan. She's struggling to make a life for herself when she meets Benjamin, her boss. Benjamin falls in love with Sarah and is determined to have her as his wife.
Meanwhile Sarah has to accept that Kevan isn't coming back: a heartbreaking experience for her.
Yet, the more time she spends around Benjamin, the more she has feelings for him.
When he asks her to marry him, she is elated, excited, and incredibly relieved to have someone to love and care for her. But will it work?
